Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It often causes whiteheads, blackheads or pimples, and usually appears on the face, forehead, chest, upper back and shoulders. Acne is most common among teenagers, though it affects people of all ages.
Depending on its severity, acne can potentially scar the skin. Acne can lead to a decrease in self-esteem as well as emotional distress.
There are four main factors of acne: Excess oil production, Hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells, Bacteria and Excess activity of a type of hormone (androgens).
Acne usually appears on areas of the skin with most oil glands. Hair follicles are connected to oil glands. The follicle wall may bulge and produce a whitehead, or the plug may be open to the surface and darken, causing a blackhead.
Pimples develop when a blocked hair follicle becomes inflamed or infected with bacteria. The blockages and inflammation that develop deep inside hair follicles produce cystlike lumps beneath the surface of your skin.
Androgens are hormones that increase in boys and girls during puberty and cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum (oil). Hormonal changes related to pregnancy and the use of oral contraceptives also can affect sebum production. Low amounts of androgens circulate in the blood of women and can worsen acne.
Non-inflammatory acne includes blackheads and whiteheads. These normally don’t cause swelling. They also respond relatively well to over-the-counter (OTC) treatments.
Pimples that are red and swollen are referred to as inflammatory acne.
Papules are hard, clogged pores that are tender to the touch. The skin around these pores is usually pink. Papules occur when the walls surrounding your pores break down from severe inflammation.
Pustules can also form when the walls around the pores break down. Unlike papules, pustules are filled with pus. These bumps come out from the skin and are usually red. They often have yellow or whiteheads on top.
Nodules occur when clogged, swollen pores endure further irritation and grow larger. Unlike pustules and papules, nodules are deeper underneath the skin. Because nodules are so deep within the skin, home treatments are usually ineffective.
Cysts are the largest form of acne, and their formation usually results from a severe infection. This type of acne is also most likely to scar. These large red or white bumps are often painful to the touch. The clogs occur deep within the skin and are further below the surface than nodules.
While acne scars aren’t a life-threatening condition, it can be painful, particularly when its severe. It can cause emotional distress and cause one to feel particularly self-conscious. At Cambridge, we offer LDM-Tech, Jet Pulse Plus+ Facial and NeoGen Nitro Plasma.
By utilising ultrasonic energy at a significantly higher frequency, it creates a strong micro massaging effect that can activate protein structures within the skin to tighten it. More importantly, it enhances collagen cross-linking which increase the elasticity of the skin for a firm, even skin tone.
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) appears to be involved in connective tissue metabolic disorders resulting in various skin conditions such as Acne, Eczemas, Dermatitis, Chronic ulcers, etc. LDM® aims to inhibit the action of these proteins which will reduce the damaging effects on the skin and tissues.
The further activation of heat shock proteins and GAGs helps to improve skin immunity, improve overall skin tone and texture.
This is a non-invasive treatment method and thus it does not induce any form of pain.
Skin appearance is seen immediately post the first session. Depending on the severity of the skin condition and the client’s age, LDM could be recommended twice per week for 4-6 weeks before entering a maintenance mode of once every 2-3 months.

NeoGen Nitro-Plasma is a cutting-edge skin regeneration treatment that uses plasma to deliver heat to a targeted treatment area without affecting the surrounding tissues.
Plasma, also known as the 4th state of matter, is generated using inert nitrogen gas and converted into activated ionised gas. At high energy levels, Nitrogen Plasma effectively achieves skin tightening, skin contouring, while at lower energy levels, it is used to treat early signs of ageing such as melasma, pigmentation, acne, fine lines and wrinkles. With its unique thermal energy, it can regenerate new skin, replacing old damaged collagen and elastin with controlled precision.
This treatment is gentle on the skin, it is completely painless.
Results are visible immediately after treatment but clients are encouraged to come once or twice a month to maintain results.
