Enlarged Pores Treatment
Pores are spaces in the surface layer of our skin that are primarily openings for hair follicles. They serve as outlets for certain bodily fluids such as sweat. Generally, they are small and hard to see unless way up close. But enlarged pores can be quite visible on the skin, causing a craggy and uneven appearance.
Enlarged pores are usually found on people who tend to have oily skin, which become larger as someone ages. Large pores have a higher chance of getting clogged with oils and sebum. As such, someone with enlarged pores have a higher chance of getting pimples or an acne breakout.
Suitability for Enlarged Pores Treatment
There are a variety of reason as to why someone might have enlarged pores. These reasons incude:
Sometimes, patients are genetically predisposed to have larger pores or oily skin. Their skin naturally produces more natural oils, which clog up the pores and give them an enlarged appearance.
If you do not keep your skin clean and free of debris, oil and dirt can accumulate and clog up your pores, making them appear larger and thickening the skin around them.
Our pores are generally smaller when we are younger. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and our pores tend to become larger. Sebaceous gland activity also increases with age while the skin’s ability to produce collagen and elastin declines.
- Sun exposure
Sun damage causes the skin to thicken, making enlarged pores look more obvious and unsightly.
Enlarged Pores Treatment with Neogen PLASMA
Energist’s Neogen Plasma device is an FDA approved non-laser technology that uses plasma energy in order to regenerate skin tissue and perform skin resurfacing.
Neogen Plasma has some unique properties that allows it to transfer energy very efficiently. It delivers millisecond pulses of nitrogen-based plasma into the skin by using a handpiece. This will have a powerful skin tightening effect, much like how a toner tightens the skin. The pores that were once enlarged will appear much smaller and your skin will attain a healthy and smooth texture.
This effect is quite unique as in general, laser technologies do some mild damage to the skin. For Neogen Plasma, the skin is left unharmed. This is important as the tissue beneath the skin undergoes a controlled thermal medication where collagen remodeling occurs and the skin surface acts as a natural barrier to prevent infection as well as to make healing faster.
Is enlarged pores treatment WITH NEOGEN PLASMA painful?
There is very little pain associated with Neogen Plasma treatment for enlarged pores. Many patients don’t even opt to have a topical numbing cream applied.
In general, topical numbing cream will be applied only if Neogen plasma is set at a high power level. Otherwise, patients won’t feel anything except a warm sensation on their skin.
How many sessions are needed?
For enlarged pores, typically, 5-6 sessions of Neogen Plasma are needed in order to get good results. It is recommended that patients wait 3-4 weeks in between sessions in order to allow their skin to rest and recover.
Immediately after treatment, patients generally notice some redness around the affected areas. Patients might experience some form of dry skin that will go away in 1-2 days.
